Question

Does the brand (company) have an active policy for reducing its water usage and waste?

Dutch version: Heeft het merk een actief beleid om het watergebruik en afval te verminderen?

German version: Setzt der Markenhersteller Maßnahmen um, um den eigenen Wasserverbrauch und Abfall zu vermindern?

References

This question is very general. Calculating a complete water and waste footprint is a hard challenge for the tourism industry, since Tour operators and Travel agencies would need to include figures on direct usage and on their suppliers’ usage as well. However, there are a great many concrete actions that tour operators and travel agencies can take to reduce their water and waste footprint. For example, the travel companies can reduce the water usage and waste within their own offices or in their own hotels, or by seeking certification for their accommodations by, e.g., Travelife or Green Key (see Tour Operators and Travel Agencies Ecology Question 7 for backgrounds). These certification systems guarantee that water usage and waste are monitored and reduced where possible. Another good example is represented by Sawadee, which provides re-usable refillable sustainable (long lasting) water bottles (see here) instead of disposable bottles and thus reducing plastic waste.
