Question

Does the brand (company) compensate for the CO2 emissions of all the staff flights (e.g. for the travel guides and other business travels)?

References and Guidelines

After encouraging consumers to compensate for the CO2 emissions, a next step is to also compensate for the CO2 emissions of all flights taken by a brand’s staff for business purposes. See Tour Operators and Travel Agencies Climate Change Question 8 for more information on compensation for CO2.

Ranking Guidelines

You can reward a ‘Yes’ to companies that clearly state that they compensate for the CO2 emissions of ALL staff flights, and that clearly state by whom this compensation is achieved.

Yes:

  • [Brand] compensates for the CO2 emissions from all staff flights through [Green Seat / Trees for Travel / Verified Carbon Standard / …]

No:

  • [Brand] explicitly states that it does not compensate for the CO2 emissions from its staff flights.

?:

  • [Brand] does not communicate whether or not it compensates for the CO2 emissions from its staff flights.
  • [Brand] states that the CO2 emissions for some staff flights are compensated, but it is not clear whether this accounts for all staff flights.
