References
This is a generic question, so we refer to Beer Environmental Policy Question 10 for the main references concerning this question.
In addition, supermarkets have a major role to play in:
- reducing food waste
- reducing other waste
Supermarkets in the Netherlands report to a bare minimum about these issues. Concerning the company’s own waste including food waste, supermarkets should report the total amount of waste in tonnes by type for each of the applied disposal methods, as described in section EN22 of the Global Reporting Initiative. Objectives to reduce waste should be time-bound and be expressed as a percentage on the total waste.
Ranking Guidelines
Refer to Beer Environmental Policy Question 10 for main ranking guidelines.
To award a 'Yes', brands should:
- report the annual (food) waste figures by type and applied disposal methods, and reduction targets OR realised reductions
