Does the brand (company) also have a policy to reduce/compensate carbon emissions generated from the product supply chain that is beyond own operations (Scope 3)?

  • Dutch version: Heeft het merk (bedrijf) een actief beleid om ook de CO2 uitstoot te verminderen of te compenseren in de productieketens (Scope 3)?
  • German version: Verfolgt der Markenhersteller eine Strategie, um auch den CO2-Ausstoß innerhalb der Lieferanten- und Produktionskette (Scope 3) zu reduzieren oder kompensieren?

Reference and Answering Guidelines

In this sector, the supply chain often refers to farmers who supply the raw ingredients and not to factories where production takes place. Generally, soda brands own factories where their products are manufactured and buy raw ingredients from (independent) farmers. Sometimes, as in the case of PepsiCo (see p. 13), the brand also owns some farms. Please be sure that the information that you use applies to the NOT OWNED supply chain. Owned factories and farmers belong to Scope 1 and 2 emissions and are therefore covered in Climate Change Question 2, 3 and 4.
